Lundbeck is one of the largest research-based pharmaceutical companies in Denmark with branches in more than 50 countries. As the world’s leading producer of medications to treat illnesses of the central nervous system, Lundbeck markets its products in over 90 countries.

At the beginning of 2006, Lundbeck decided to conduct a thorough review of its supply chain in Europe. It had a logistics structure in just about every country, a fact that made supply chain management extremely complex and costly.

By coordinating these activities and centralizing product flows, the company boosted its delivery service and the quality of deliveries of customer orders in Europe. At the same time, logistics costs were lowered on a long-term basis and data transparency was increased.

From the start, we have served as a strategic partner who fulfills an advisory function at Lundbeck. As a service partner, we help ensure that the new logistics solution is successfully introduced and carried out. To be able to respond to the customer’s individual needs, we conducted a thorough review of the conditions and developed a solution that optimized every step from goods receipt to delivery to the end customer.

As a result, Lundbeck now has a successful, efficient logistics infrastructure. And the company can fully concentrate on its core business.

Central activities

• Conducting a thorough analysis of existing supply chain structures
• Establishing a central warehouse for Europe
• Centralizing inventories by creating a primary warehouse for more than 15 countries
• Conducting picking as well as relabeling and repackaging products
• Managing all national and international product transports on an individual customer basis
• Providing direct deliveries across Europe in 24 to 48 hours
• Developing and introducing tracking & tracing solutions for optimal shipment monitoring
